World Health Day is an annual event celebrated the world over the theme for this year’s event was Safe Motherhood. As a prelude to the event, posters were distributed in schools inviting students to the Youth Centre for the occasion on April 9, 1998.
AHI found it necessary to use the day to stress the importance of Safe Motherhood to adolescents because of the high rate of mortality and morbidity that has always been associated with pregnancy and childbirth in pubertal and adolescent girls.
