International Conference on Reproductive Health

The International Conference on Reproductive Health took place in Mumbai, India recently. It was jointly organized by the Indian Society for the Study of Reproduction and fertility and the UNDP/UNFPA/WHO/World Bank Special Program of Research, Development and Research Training in Human Reproduction (HRP). The theme of the Conference was From Population to Reproductive Health. The conference objectives were:

  • To facilitate networking will all stake holders in reproductive health the world over, but with special emphasis on the developing world of the South –South Region.
  • Bring recommendations to the post 5 years ICPD (ICPD+5) meeting planned for next year.

UNFPA sponsored the participation of Dr. Uwem Esiet of AHI at the conference, which was attended by 482 delegates from 39 countries.

AHI was able to forge linkages with other organizations and experts working in the reproductive health field from over 30 countries. We shared materials from our program and were also exposed to other innovative strategies been applied in other parts of the world, especially in developing countries with similar demographic data.
